LYONS, DONALD J.
Of Moorestown, NJ died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. He was 82.
Born in Pennsauken, Don was a longtime resident of Moorestown. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was retired from the Philadelphia Navy Yard after 43 years of service as a Supervisor for the supply department, where he had received numerous civil service awards.
During his retirement, Don drove hearse and limousines for Holl-Rodenbeck Livery Service. Don was a life member of Hose Co. #1, Moorestown. He was a life member and past president of the Moorestown Emergency Squad. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister for Our Lady of Good Counsel R. C. Church. Don served on the board of the Tender in Moorestown. He was on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #61. He was an avid fisherman. He loved to spend time with his family and friends at his pool.
Don is the beloved husband of 60 years of Helen M. (nee Ward). He is the loving father of Mary Ann (Gerald) Barlow of Moorestown and the late Colleen M. Donovan and Donald J. Lyons. He is the dear grandfather of Candace Donovan-North, Kelly (Mark) Eaise, and Amanda, Jerry, and Brandon Barlow. He is the great grandfather of Charles W. North, VI, Nancy A. North, Colin R. North, and William, Mark, and Ava Eaise. He is the brother of John H. Lyons of Stratford and Sister St. Christopher Lyons, SSJ of Cape May, NJ. He will be greatly missed by his beloved friend, Shiloh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, 42 W. Main St., Moorestown. Interment is in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Moorestown.
