John Wesley Barber, 84, passed away on September 9, 2022 after a brief illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Derek McAleer officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until service time. Entombment will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

John was born in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Walker and Mary Barber, and was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Barber.

He attended Berry College with a Scholarship in farming and agriculture and later started work in the railroad business. He was a self-proclaimed "railroad man" and retired from Southern Railway Company as a train dispatcher after 40 years of service.

He enjoyed investing in and following the stock market on a daily basis.

He loved eating supper and socializing at his daughter's restaurant, Jeneane's at Pinebrook. John was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Trudy S. Barber; children; Abby London (Randy), Jeneane Barber (Stacy), Karen Adams (Jimmy), Robert House Jr., (Iris), and Bonnie House Arbo; grandchildren; Wesley Gordon (Heather), Lucas House, Grant Gordon, Justin Adams (Kelly), Jordan Adams (Julie), Emily Arbo, and Anna Arbo; great-grandchildren; Kaylee Gordon, Jack Gordon, Banks Adams, and Kate Adams; sister, Faye Williams of West Point, GA; sister-in-law, Linda Barber.
