Mildred's obituary read: "Mildred A. Sydes, 85, of Danville, passed away at 7:35 P.M. Sunday (October 2, 1994) at USMC, Logan Campus. She was born December 18, 1908, in Gessie, Indiana, the daughter of Willis and Fern McBee Dunavan. She married Theodore Richards November 27, 1934. He preceded her May 3, 1966. She later married William F. Sydes in 1968. He preceded her February 12, 1974. Surviving: three sisters, Mrs. Opal (Howard) Dice of Covington, Indiana, Eva Story of Covington, Indiana, and Mrs. Betty (Jack) Weller of Oakwood; several brothers and sister-in-law, Oswald (Isabel) Chrisman of Bismark, Joe (Laura) Williams of Westville, Harry (Josie) Sydes of Scottsdale, Arizona, Margy Sizelove of Connersville, Indiana, Ellen Sydes of Lafayette, Indiana, and Ellen Dunavan of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

She was employed at Musebeck Shoe Company, Danville Jacket, Kinney Shoe Store, A & P Grocery, and Mildred Leverenz Drapery. She also did domestic work for many years. She was a very active member of the Danville United Church of Christ. She also belonged to the Danville Women's Club and Danville Chapter of Eastern Star, of which she was a past worthy matron and a 50 year plus member. She was also a member of the Bismark Thimble Club and Bismark Keenagers. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, crafts of all kinds, and she especially enjoyed helping people.

Services: 10 A.M. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home; Officiating: Bill Riegle; Burial: Spring Hill Cemetery; Visitation: 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home; Memorials: Danville United Church of Christ."
