MADISON – Robert "Bobby" Swanson Atkins, 77, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2022 at his home.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Mayodan First Baptist Church with Reverend Torrey Easler and Reverend Randy Jessup officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at the home.

Bobby was born on March 22, 1945 in Rockingham County to the late Claude Swanson Atkins and Blanche Sue Martin Atkins. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who served his country honorably in the United States Army, 101st Airborne. Bobby spent his working career as a journeyman tool and die maker.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Macdean Amos.

He leaves behind his wife, Georgia B. Atkins; daughters, Angel A. Powley (Keith) and Bobbie M. Atkins; daughters by marriage, Angie C. Arno (Bill) and Kim C. Richardson (Jeff); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and sister, Linda A. Reaves.
