John C. Bahret, 61, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 16, 2017, at home. John was born in Poughkeepsie, November 10, 1955, to Jean D. Bahret and John H. Bahret Jr.

John was a 1973 graduate of F. D. Roosevelt High School, Hyde Park. He also graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and earned his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Marist College in 1984.

He was presently employed by the Office of Children's and Family Services in Spring Valley as a Senior Administrator. John previously worked for Holy Cross Pius and The Division for Youth in Highland.

John was very involved as a member of the Calvary Chapel of the Hudson Valley, where he was a mentor and an usher. He volunteered his time to the community, helping many children and working at the Lunch Box Outreach program serving and cooking dinners.

He had a long and dedicated career with the Hudson Valley Referee Association. He was active in sports throughout his lifetime, either playing sports himself or officiating games. He was one of the youngest players to play slow pitch softball and, as a teen, he once hit three home runs in one inning. John was honored as being selected as one of the top 10 rated baseball umpires in New York State to officiate in Cooperstown, NY.

John is survived by his mother, Jean D. Bahret; his sons, Nicholas and Alex Bahret; and a daughter, Lena Bahret. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce (Peggy) Bahret; sisters, Jane (John) Mandia, Jean Bahret, and Nancy C. Bahret. He was so proud to be a loving uncle to Kathleen (Peter) Tourinho, Michelle Bahret, Kevin (Christine) Bahret, Stephen Bahret, Derek Bahret, Christina Zoccoli, Dana (Eric) Peterson, and Jennifer Zoccoli; and a loving great-uncle to Cassandra and Christian Tourinho; Cailin and Ryan Bahret; and EmmaRae and Ellijah Bahret. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Bahret.

He was predeceased by his father, John H. Bahret Jr. in June 1984; and his brother, David A. Bahret, March 15, 2016.

John is survived by many, many friends and his church family. He will be remembered as a caring, generous, loving friend, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and most importantly, Dad. John was everyone's friend.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation will follow.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at the Calvary Chapel of the Hudson Valley, 36 Firemans Way, Poughkeepsie, NY.
