COLUMBUS, Pa. - Ruth I. Thoms, 89, of 34 E. Main St., Columbus, Pa., died Wednesday at her residence.

She was born Nov. 18, 1899 in Findlay to George B. and Pett (Kerr) Crane. She married the Rev. Walter J, Thoms on August 15, 1924 in Findlay, and he died October 2, 1980.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Dona) Palumbo, Hermitage, Pa.; Mrs. Michael (Jane) Charry, Riverdale, N.Y.; Frances L. Thoms, Shaker Heights; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Thoms taught elementary school in Fremont and Sagertown, Pa. She graduated from Findlay High School and attended Findlay College for two years. She received a teaching degree from Oberlin College in 1922.

She was a member of Columbus Community United Church of Christ, Columbus, Pa. She also was a member of the Columbus Grange and active in the American Red Cross.

Graveside services were held at West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Pa.
There was no visitation. Memorials could be made to the Ladies Aid Society of the Columbus Community United Church of Christ or the University of Findlay.
