Celestia Iona Lee, daughter of William Danton & Eliza Lee, was born 23 April 1846 in Springwater, New York. Her family moved to Macksburg, Madison County, Iowa, in 1855. In September 1863, she attended a seminary in Indianola, Iowa. In November 1863 she went to stay with her sister and brother-in-law, Huldah Lee Bennett and Gorton Bennett, in Fontanelle, Iowa, where she taught school until her marriage to William Beeson Barker on September 6, 1866 in Madison county, Iowa.
The couple farmed in Iowa, eventually moving to Lamar, and later Denver, Colorado. The Barkers had five children: Leonardas, Artis, Celestia, Lester and Merle.
Celestia died December 10, 1913.
