Thomas Arthur "Tom" Allen
1943 - 2022

Thomas Arthur Allen, 78, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Lindon, Utah. Tom loved with a gentle and pure heart; his tremendous kindness and goodness brought joy to many.

Tom was born October 29, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arthur Tranter and Virginia Brown Allen. Sadly, Virginia passed away when Tom was six years old. Joy returned to the home when Tom's father married June Fowler Oblad. He grew up in a happy home with his older sister, Elizabeth, and younger brothers, Steve and Larry. Tom spent many of his teenage years in Australia where his father built churches for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tom attended the Church College of New Zealand before returning to Salt Lake City where he graduated from Highland High School. He served as a full-time missionary in the Central British Mission. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in accounting. While at BYU, Tom met and married Linda Ruth Mohler. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on February 5, 1969. Tom, who sweetly called Linda "Coach" throughout their 43-year marriage, adored her and their five children, Dave, Scott, Stacy, Lisa, and Jared. Tom and Linda lived for a brief time in Bakersfield, California, before settling in Orem, Utah. Tom worked as an accountant for the LDS Foundation in Provo, Utah, and as an information systems specialist for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City.

Tom cheered on BYU football and basketball, as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also enjoyed golfing, strumming his guitar, and fiddling with new electronic devices. Tom diligently served the Lord throughout his life. He served in ward bishoprics as both a counselor and ward clerk; he especially enjoyed singing in the ward choir and teaching Primary children.

Tom was blessed to live the last years of his life in the loving homes of Stacy and Jared Walker and Scott and Cher Allen. His sweet smile and laughing eyes reflected the great care he received in the homes of his children.

Tom's children express their thanks to Tom's extraordinarily caring home ward and extended family for many years of loving support.

Tom's return to his heavenly home means a wonderful reunion with his beloved wife, his parents, and a first meeting with his older brother, David Brown Allen, who died at birth. Tom leaves behind his five children and their spouses: David Arthur and his wife Robin Jacobsen Allen, Scott Michael and his wife Cherlynn Deann Schorr, Stacy Lynn Allen and her husband Jared Robert Walker, Lisa Marie Allen Lafleur, and Jared Andrew Allen. Tom also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren as well as three siblings: Elizabeth Ann Allen and her husband John Jay Oldroyd, Stephen Brown and his wife Nancy Billings Allen, and Larry Fowler and his wife Darla Phelps Allen.

Services honoring Tom will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23 at the Canyon View 3rd Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 762 East 1200 North, Orem, Utah. Family and friends are invited to a visitation prior to services from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
