Mr. Paul who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Paul. He was educated in Ohio schools and graduated from Fairfield Union Academy in 1866. He taught in Ohio and later in Iowa until he moved to Missouri in 1902. When he came here he bought a farm six miles east of Versailles and remained there until his death. He married Miss Samantha A. Stuter June 29, 1873 and to this union were born four children, Mrs. Paul died 38 years ago. In early manhood he professed religion with the Methodist Church. Mr. Paul is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Mereness and Mrs. Etta Stevens of Pittsburgh, PA.: two sons, Walter Paul of Long Beach and Emory A. Paul of the home; a sister Mrs. Emma Melick of Tulsa, Okla; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two gr-gr- grandchildren.
Except for the son here none were able to be here for the funeral. Mrs. Mereness and Walter Paul were here to visit him in the last months of their father's life. Because of being unable to leave her husband, who is blind, Mrs. Stevens could not be here.
