James Vires, 67, Greensburg, died at 2:37 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2006 in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born, November 22, 1938 in Laurel, Indiana, he was the son of Charles Henry and Rebecca (Gabbard) Vires.
He had worked 20 years as a Captain in the Pinkerton Security, he worked for 16 years as supervisor at Randall Co. and he worked at Gecom for a few years. He was a former town Marshall in Westport and Morristown. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. He attended the Faith Baptist Church and had been a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
He was married first to Rosita Gates and she survives. He then married Brenda J. Chapman on June 29, 1973 and she survives.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Vires, Greensburg and his former wife Rosita Vires, Seymour; 2 sons, Kevin D. Vires, Greensburg, Stephen J. (Amanda) Vires, Greensburg; 5 daughters, Belinda J. Rankin, Seymour, Angela L. (Hiram) Smith, Seymour, Rebecca Jo Vires, Greensburg, Christina L. Vires, Georgetown, In, Deanna D. Cox, Greensburg; 2 sisters, Francis Bower, Greensburg, Ellen (Jack) Stuart, Greensburg; 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Charles Henry Vires, Jr.; 1 sister, Wanda Vires; 1 grandson, Kanon James Vires.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Paul Wenning officiating.
Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
