Radio Personality and Actor. He was best known for playing the fictional private detective character "Michael Shayne" on the radio in the 1930s and Sgt. Matt Greb in the detective series "The Line Up." During his career he also appeared in over 65 films including "Hollywood Hotel" (1937) and "The Reformer and the Redhead" (1950) starring June Allyson and Dick Powell. He was cast as T.H. Benson in the 1949 film "Johnny Stool Pigeon" starring Howard Duff and Shelley Winters and he played the character of Tim Sharkey in the 1950 film "Mystery Street" starring Ricardo Montalban and Sally Forrest.
