Elizabeth (Betty) Lomont, 84, of New Haven died September 19, 2022 after years of suffering from Alzheimer's at Parkview Memorial Hospital Randalia, Fort Wayne, IN. Elizabeth was born to the late Joseph and Marie Schenk on August 7, 1938 in Beech Grove, IN.

Betty graduated from the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in 1956 and received her bachelor's degree in Education from St. Benedict College in 1960 and her masters from St. Francis College in 1965. She taught 2nd grade at Precious Blood School in Jasper, IN and 4th grade at the Precious Blood School in Fort Wayne, IN and 4th grade at Jackson School in the East Allen School District.

She married Marshall Lomont on her 27th birthday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale, IN in 1965. When she became a mother the following year, she left teaching to become a full-time homemaker. In addition to her role as devoted wife and mother she was an active member of many organizations. She was president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Rosary Sodality, and Blue Army. She was an active member of Saint Louis, Besancon Catholic Church where she was the Director of Religious Education, a sponsor for RCIA, taught CCD for many years, and sang for over 20 years in the choir. Betty was a long-time member and served on several committees of the Country Neighbors Home Ec. Club

In her spare time, Betty enjoyed crocheting, traveling, visiting the sick, playing games, and she was known as a competitive card player. She also enjoyed hosting her immediate and extended family for family reunions. Her children and grandchildren all knew that her motto was "if you don't work, you don't eat" and thus she instilled a good work ethic in all her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Marshall P. Lomont, and Donald Howard; her parents Joseph and Marie Schenk, as well as five siblings: Imogene, Bill, Paul, Elaine Schenk and Barbara Lush.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 am, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Saint Louis, Besancon. Visitation will be held Friday, September 23, 2022, 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm with the Rosary at 4pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in St Louis Besancon Cemetery, New Haven.
