March 3, 1931 - Aug. 12, 2022

James McKay Beilstein passed away Aug. 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. Jim was born March 3, 1931 in Butler, Pa., to Carl and Lois Beilstein. He was the oldest of four kids and was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Jerry; and his sister, Mary Jane.
Jim graduated from Butler High School in 1949 and served in the 1st Calvary Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1957 Jim transferred from the U.S. Army to the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in the U.S. and Japan before serving in Vietnam. He met his future wife, Jacqueline Bickford, at a dance in 1960 in Portsmouth, N.H., and they were happily married for 61 years. Jim and Jackie had five children and they settled in Apple Valley, Calif., after Jim served 21 years in the military. Following his time in the armed services, Jim graduated with a Liberal Arts degree from Chapman College and continued serving his community as a teacher where he taught elementary school for 29 years. He took pride in being an educator and role model for kids. Jim was also a man of strong faith and served as a lector for 20 years in his local Catholic church. Beyond his faith, Jim's greatest passion was his family. He enjoyed watching his children, and later his grandchildren, participate in a wide variety of activities and sports including football, baseball, basketball, softball, gymnastics, drama, golf, and his favorite sport – ice hockey.
Jim is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Jackie; his children, Mary Bowman of Indio, Calif., Scott Beilstein (Kristin) of Apple Valley, Calif., Mark Beilstein (Michelle), of Lake Oswego, Ore., Matt Beilstein (Nicole) of Yucaipa, Calif., and Stephen Beilstein (Alana) of Sparks, Nev.; his grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron (McKenzie), Kelsey, Kenedy, Kristopher, Colin, Hannah, Morgan, Luc, and Elyse; his step-granddaughters, Alana and Hannah; and his great-grandson, Dax.
Jim will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
