William H. Coleman was the oldest son of Calvert M. Coleman and his wife, Sarah Westfall. He was married in 1910, Wayne Co., MI, to Jessie Croton.
Will Coleman began working at the early age of sixteen and spent most of his life in Detroit and suburbs. In 1890, he started working for the Detroit Urban Railway as a conductor. He later worked for twenty years as a motorman for the DUR.
Soon after their marriage, Will and his wife, Jessie, moved to Ferndale, MI, and raised their two children there. After retiring from the DUR, Will worked for the Ferndale-Pleasant Ridge Board of Education as a maintenance man.
