Mrs. May Pershall, 76, one of the first pioneer women in Chelan, died early Tuesday morning at the home of her son Ernest, following a sudden heart attack. Funeral services were held this afternoon.
Laura May Utterback was born in Mills County, Iowa and lived there until her marriage late in her teens to Lloyd Pershall. To this union four sons were born, one of whom, Elmer, preceded his mother in death.
Following her marriage, Mrs. Pershall moved to Nebraska where she and her husband homesteaded near Broken Bow, with a sod house for their home. She left Nebraska about five years later and came to Chelan.
Surviving are four sons, Ernest and Melville of Chelan and Lowell of Chico, Ca., three sisters, Mrs. M. M. Kingman of Chelan, Mrs. Alice Davis of Venango, Nebraska, and Mrs. Ida Goodfellow of Mont Clair, New Jersey; two brothers, William Utterback of Huron, South Dakota and Mel Utterback of Chelan and 11 grandchildren.
