Gulick, Peter Johnson, missionary, b. in Freeho;d, N.J., 12 March, 1797; d. in Kobe, Japan, 8 Dec., 1877. He was a graduated at Princeton in 1825, and studied for two years at the theological seminar there. Hewas licensed to preach by the presbytery of New Brunswick in 1827, and was ordained by the same presbytery in October of the same year. In November he left Boston for the Hawaiian Islands under the commission of the American board of commissioners of foreign missions, and was stationed in various islands of the Hawaiian kingdom. In 1874, he went to Japan, and there passed the last days of his life with a son who also a missionary.
