Donald E. Johns Donald E. Johns, age 71, of 1116 Division Street, Manitowoc, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at his residence. Don was born on November 13, 1939, in Dodgeville, son of the late Donald E. and Neldean (Hitchcock) Johns. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1957 and went on to school for two years to receive an associate degree from Lakeshore Technical College. He married the former Judith Gauthier on July 21, 1962, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Don served as a C-130 Loadmaster in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He worked as an insurance agent for many years for American Family Insurance. Don was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the Clipper City Chordsmen. He was very interested in genealogy and loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include: Judith Johns, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Randall (Marjorie) Johns and their child: Laurine Johns, Beaver, PA; one daughter and son-in-law: Nancy (Peter) Doemel and their children: Jonathan, Ryan, Christina and Eric, San Antonio, TX; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Janet (James) Reinertson, Valders; Beverley (Arnold) Steinbach, Platteville; Becky (Jerry) Cherney, Orlando, FL; two brothers-in-law: Gregory Gauthier and special friend Connie Keip, Manitowoc; Dennis Gauthier, Myrtle Beach, SC. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by father-in-law: Lester F. Gauthier and mother-in-law: Dolores B. Gauthier; and also preceded in death by four brothers-in-law: Lester J. Gauthier; Gerald Gauthier; Robert Gauthier and Charles Gauthier. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate. Entombment will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Knollwood Mausoleum, 1500 Hwy 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be accorded by the VFW Otto Oas Post #659 of Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again at church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Memorials may be made in Donald’s name to First Lutheran Church.
