DICK ZASTROW OBITUARY

Zastrow, Dick J.

Dick Zastrow, age 78, of 2706 42nd St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016 as the result of an automobile accident.

Dick was born in Shawano, WI on Sept. 9, 1938 to the late Alvin and Eva (Mass) Zastrow. He was a 1956 graduate of Shawano High School, and served over 9 years with the U.S. Army Reserves. On Sept. 19, 1959, he married Rose Mary Haut at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Dick was retired from Fisher Hamilton of Two Rivers after over 40 years of service.

Since Dick was a young man, he was known not only for his hunting, sporting clays, and fishing abilities, but also his genuine care and compassion for God's creatures. Knowing Dick meant that you likely would hunt with one of his English Setters, meet his red squirrel, pet raccoon, or any one of the many birds that he nursed back to health and released. Maybe you'd even see him driving down the road with a Cooper's Hawk perched on his daughter's arm, looking out the car window.

Dick also enjoyed gun stock checkering, creating beautiful custom wood gun stocks, and the art of fishing rod wrapping.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary; one daughter, Kristin of Two Rivers; his grandchildren, Katelyn (Christopher) Krug; the twins Ryan & Rachel Kluba; and one sister, Mick Schweers of Stevens Point. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Betty (Danny) Hesselink of Clintonville, Patsy Haut and special nephew, Mark Haut of Shawano; Diana Eggert; Barb Haut; and his buddy and "grand dog", Jak. He is further survived by his other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Dick was also preceded in death by his brother, Sonny; a sister, Geneva Gast; brothers-in-law Roger and Jerry Haut, Bob Schweers and Marvin Gast.

Private family services were held for Dick on Friday, Sept. 16th. Rev. David Arndt officiated the service, with entombment in the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.

Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers assisted the Zastrow family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Lisa Steinhauer, nurse practitioner, for her compassion and care through Dick's battle with Emphysema and COPD; and Cory Kumbalek and Rich (Judy) Graff, who continued to visit, reminisce, and share stories through his illness. Special thanks also to Sue Yohanek, Tami Bohman, and Frederich Eichhorst who assisted immeasurably during this difficult time.
