Mr. Anderson was born June 19, 1923, in Forestville to the late Robert and Elsie Anderson. He graduated from Maryland Park High School.
He worked as a finish carpenter in many locations and was a member of Carpenters Local 132 for 60 years.
He served in the Army during World War II as a heavy mortar crewman in Italy.
Mr. Anderson was a Boy Scout leader and went on 13 trips with the Appalachian Service Project. He served as a trustee at both Davidsonville and Mount Zion United Methodist churches, doing many repairs and projects.
He enjoyed gardening and having his family around him.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Larrimore, and two brothers, George Randall and Robert L. Anderson Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jean Hastings Anderson; one son, A. Jess Anderson Jr. of Severn; one daughter, Marilyn Mishou of Davidsonville; one brother, Raymond "Pat" Anderson of Brandywine; one sister, Martha Jane Payne of Davidsonville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
