She was born Aug. 20, 1914, in Broadlands, Ill., the youngest of five children, to Henry and Annie (Nichols) Lamb. In 1918, the Lamb family moved to Helena and their new home in the Helena Valley. She attended school at Bryant and Helena High schools, graduating in l934.
She was involved with the 4-H Club; her interest was sewing and she won many ribbons at the state fair. She also played piano and organ. She also organized the Helena Mineral Society in l945.
Hilda was married to Norman Syverson of Wakpala, S.D., in l951. Their first home was Kalispell. Norman worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at Hungry Horse in the engineering department, in Flathead Forest. In 1960, they were transferred to Sandpoint, Idaho, to the Kanisku Forest. In l963, they transferred to Porterville, Calif., to the Sequoia National Forest, and were there for l4 years before retiring to Polson.
She was alteration lady for the Flagship Clothing Store in Polson. She sat at the sewing machine 66 years.
She is survived by her nieces, Norma Ashby of Great Falls, Marilyn (Ron) Roberts of Big Arm; nephews, John (Mary) Lamb and Don (Sarah) Hilger, both of Helena; numerous great-nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held at the Forestvale Cemetery.
