Melvin H. Deike, 84, of Owatonna, and formerly of Nerstrand, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1992, at Owatonna Health Care Center. Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Wheeling Township, rural Rice County, with the Rev. Edward H. Reinhardt officiating. Burial will be held in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Boldt Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Melvin H. Deike, son of William and Wilhelmine Meese Deike, was born July 9, 1908, in rural Rice County. He married Agnes E. McCarthy on April 14, 1928. She preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 1987. He lived and farmed in the Nerstrand area his entire life. He is survived by his son, Robert of Las Vegas; two daughters, Mrs. Delores (Delbert) Bultman of Kenyon, and Mrs. Diane (Donald E.) Bauer of Faribault; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Duane and Donald; five sisters; two brothers; and his parents. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Owatonna Hospice Care Center, Owatonna.
