John B. Brannen, born in Rockledge, FL on December 30, 1943, passed away at home on July 3, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

John enjoyed life to the fullest and had many amazing adventures and tales to share about them. He is remembered for his tremendous sense of humor, generosity, and gregarious nature.

After a time in the Navy, John spent his career in the industrial packaging industry working for Anheuser-Busch, Brown & Root Paper and Pabst Brewing, which allowed him to travel the world. For the 20 years prior to his retirement, John started and ran Brantec Packaging Machinery Corporation in Cheraw, SC. Following his retirement in 2015, he continued consulting on smaller projects and never stopped working around his house.

John and his wife Charlotte moved to Charlotte, NC in 2004. He took great pride in helping friends and family with any of their homes and gardens. John (known to his family as "Pop") took pleasure in his grandchildren and proudly followed all of their sports and accomplishments. Pop deeply loved his family and was so proud to share special moments with everyone he met. His generosity of spirit was unparalleled. John is survived by his wife Charlotte; his daughter Kim and her husband Bret and children Brittany and Samantha of Ohio; his son Kenneth and his wife Yaritza and their children Kristy, Kasey, Kathy and Kenni of Florida; his son John and his wife Stacey and their children Ashley and John Preston of Tennessee; his son Matt, of North Carolina; his stepson Brian and his wife Kim and their children Ryan, Austin, and Carter of North Carolina; and his stepson Eric and his wife Tonya and their children Thomas, Henry, and Jack of North Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy, Arlene, Barbara, Jane, Linda and Martha and 8 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis (D.C.) and May Belle Brannen, and siblings Dennis, Howard, Rex, Jack, Tom, Nina, Frances and Patsy.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel located at 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, 28210.
