On September 29, 1939 he was united in marriage to Sylvia May (Shiverdecker) Baumgartner who survives at the home.
In addition to his wife of sixty-seven years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Sydney Baumgartner and his wife Susan of Hallsville, Missouri; three sisters, Dorothy Craig and her husband Sterling of Millersburg, Missouri, Margie "Polly" Dudley of Fulton, Missouri, and Katherine "Katie" Miller and her husband Raymond of Millersburg, Missouri; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces an nephews; other relatives and many dear friends.
His parents, one son, Larry Baumgartner, and one daughter, Linda Pryor, preceded him in death.
Lawrence and his wife owned and operated Bummy's Market, Jefferson Street Market, Mi-Gas Service, Stockman Café, and Bummy's Café. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Odd Fellows, which he joined in 1940, Meals on Wheels, and Callaway Calico's Square Dancing. He served our country in the United States Army/Air Force during World War II. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, architectural drawing, and genealogy.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with Rev. Ray Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, Missouri 65251.
