Ella Mae Billups Archer was born June 27, 1937 to the late WIlliam Harrison Billups and Cornelious Winslow Billups. She was the youngest of six children. She departed this life for her heavenly home on October 6, 2022. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, 2 brothers, daughter Veda Archer Bowe and Grandson SSG Gregory Cooke, USA (ret) (190681801) . Ella Mae attended Perquimans County schools in Winfall, NC. She was a member of Bay Branch Church in Belvidere, NC, from her early childhood to adulthood, until she moved to Virginia. There she joined New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church where she remained until her health failed. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, PHA. She had retired from the Virginia Beach City Schools. Ella Mae is survived by 2 daughters, a son, 2 grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
