Vogel, Susan M.

Susan M. Vogel, 89, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, formerly of 2508 Hamilton, Street, Manitowoc, died Friday morning July 15, 2011, at the center.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1922, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Pauline Drill Osesek. On Oct. 30, 1943, she married Robert J. Vogel Sr. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2001. Susan was employed with Lapcor Plastics for 15 years and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. The couple enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas and playing bingo at Oneida.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Dean Schmidt, Conover, Wis., five sons and four daughters-in-law, Gary Vogel, Hartford; Dennis and Karen Vogel, Manitowoc; Dale and Marta Vogel, Rockford, Ill.; Robert and Sheryl Vogel, Manitowoc; Randy and Vera Vogel, Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren, Shane Vogel, Sonja Birr, Sara (Mark) Holsen, Brett Vogel, Bryan (Kristi) Vogel, Brandon Vogel, Melissa Vogel, Matthew Vogel, Amanda (John) Jordan, Samantha Vogel, Luke Vogel; nine great-grandchidlren, Ayden and Halle Birr, Ashlee and Garrett Holsen, Riley, Braylon and Alexander Vogel, Houston Vogel, Orion Jordan; one sister, Irene Becker, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (Bob) Kupina and Carol Vogel. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Susan was preceded in death by two brothers, Florian and Edwin Osesek; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lucille and Elmer Koch, Dolores and Victor Ceaglske, Ted Becker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arnie and Alice Vogel, Bill and Agnella Nuhs, Larry and Priscilla Vesley, Patrinella Miller, Louis Vogel, John Vogel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday July 19, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Brian LaLiberte, the nursing staff at Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County, Dr. Mary Govier and the nursing staff on 2nd floor at Shady Lane for their compassionate care and support given to Susan and her family.
