Betty A. Lindsey, 83, of Taylorville, Ill., formerly of Granite City, Ill., passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at Meadow Manor Nursing Home, Taylorville, Ill.
Betty was born September 10, 1931, in Glen Carbon, Ill., a daughter to the late John and Beatrice, nee Slemmer, Trebing.
In October of 1947, Betty married Benton James Lindsey Sr., the love of her life in Glen Carbon, Ill., and he passed away on October 1, 1998.
Betty had worked in the housekeeping department at St. Elizabeth Hospital for thirteen years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and just being outdoors. Betty loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl and Donald Lindsey; sister, Leona Morris; brother, Kenneth Lindsey; and one granddaughter, Allison.
She is survived by her loving children, Benton "Jimmy" (Mary) Lindsey Jr. of Litchfield, Ill., and Gerald (Alice) Lindsey of Granite City, Ill.; two brothers, Ronald "Skipper" (Ethel) Trebing of St. Louis, Mo., and John (Marilyn) Trebing of Edwardsville, Ill.; ten grandchildren, Julie, Greg, Jamie, Erika, Lindsay, Kathy, Christopher, David, Jason and Brian; 16 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Timmy, Haley, Amy, Amanda, Gregory, Matthew, Sarah, Amber, Maranda, Austin, Isabella, Aaron, Thomas, Wanda and Michael; and many great-great-grandchildren.
