Francis A. "Frank" Groh, 88, of New Holstein, died Monday morning, February 16, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home.
He was born August 24, 1926 in St. Nazianz, son of the late William & Frieda (Schleh) Groh.
Frank was a 1944 graduate of Valders High School.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving his country from 1945-1947.
On June 9, 1951 he married Bernice Brocker at St. Nazianz.
Frank worked at Pioneer Container for more than 20 years. He became a Real Estate Agent, eventually becoming a Real Estate Broker, starting his own business, Groh Realty. He retired at the age of 83.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. He also was a 50 year member of the New Holstein American Legion, Post #124 and a former member of the Lion's Club and Optimist Club.
Frank enjoyed reading, telling stories, shooting pool and playing cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed sawing wood & downing trees with his chain saw to be used for the wood stove.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bernice of New Holstein, four daughters; Chris (Charlie) Ulfig, Donna (Bob) Schmid, Karen (Thomas) Highland, Barbara (Glenn) Bell and four grandchildren; Melissa (Michael) Fulgione, Scott (Vanessa) Ulfig and Kelsey & Lindsey Highland. He is further survived by five great grandchildren; Brianna Ulfig, Dylan & Angelina Fulgione, Gwen & Alex Ulfig, one brother, Joseph (Joan) Groh, one brother-in-law, Ralph Brocker, three sisters-in-law, Laverne Kabat, Jean (Bernie Fraser) Brocker, and Jeanette Groh,. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Frieda Groh and one brother, Gerald Groh.
The funeral Mass for Frank will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison St., New Holstein, with Rev. Harold Berryman officiating and Joe Zenk, Pastoral Leader assisting. The New Holstein American Legion, Post #124 will conduct military rites immediately following the service. Entombment will take place in Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 am until 10:45 am when brief family rites will be held.
Frank's family would like to extend their thanks to the VA medical staff in Cleveland as well as Calumet County Hospice for all the care and compassion shown to Frank and the family.
