Georgia was born in Grays, Kentucky on Tuesday, January 11th, 1921, daughter of the late Parks Britton Davenport and Eliza Mary McVey Davenport. She was a member of the Somerset Nazarene Church. Georgia was well known for being a seamstress and doing upholstery work. She was a Riveter in the Navy yards in Baltimore.
Georgia was survived by one son, Thomas (and Jodi) Stringer of Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Joyce Gwyndolene Stringer Owens of Seminole, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Stringer of Somerset, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Tonya Todd, Travis O'Bryan Owens, Tracey Mouring, Nicholas Stringer, and Kyle Stringer; eight great grandchildren, Laren Nease, Braden Nease, Quinton Owens, Graylam Owens, Daigan Owens, Samuel Stringer, Christian Mouring, and Toby Mouring.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Parks Britton Davenport, who departed this life on July 24th, 1972 and Eliza Mary Davenport, who departed this life on December 11th, 1993; her loving husband of 68 years, Zearn Stringer, whom she married in Harlan, Kentucky on June 10th, 1940 and who departed this life on August 9th, 2004; one son, Frank B. Stringer; seven brothers and sisters, Bill Davenport, Maggie Findley, Jess Davenport, Hadly Davenport, Kathlene Hensley, Marie Asbury, and Denver Davenport; one son-in-law, Anthony Owens; and one grandson-in-law, George Mouring.
Visitations were held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21st, 2022 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21st, 2022 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Paddick Jr. officiating.
Her pallbearers were: Travis O'Bryan Owens, Nicholas Stringer, Kyle Stringer, Quinton Owens, Graylam Owens, and Christian Mouring.
