Judy Bergendahl

Judy Marie Hennig Bergendahl, was 73 years old, passed away October 13, 2022. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Central United Methodist Church on Bagby. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, with Rev. Carl Freeto officiating, and burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Born to Viola Pauline Trojan and Wesley William Lonnie Hennig at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Hospital. She grew up in Bellmead and graduated from La Vega in 1968. She was on the drill team and played volleyball. The family spent a lot of time at the ballpark; Judy, along with her brother, coached softball; during the summer, she played on the church and city-wide softball teams, with catcher admittingly being her favorite position. Judy was a charter member of Christ American Lutheran Church. She married John Bergendahl in 1976. They moved to Hewitt and joined the Methodist Church on 1st Street. Judy worked at Hillcrest Hospital for 30 years and retired from Hillcrest Senior Health Center. She continued to work with Comfort Keepers for 7 years and was a receptionist for H&R Block in Hewitt for about 7 years.
After her divorce, Judy joined the Central United Methodist Church where she organized singles volleyball. Her aunt, Norma Trojan Douglas, got her started with Texas Association of Single Adults (TASA). Judy was in charge of scheduling bands, sent out dance reminders, and later became the president. She was very active. She enjoyed going to water aerobics at the YMCA in the morning, then Sul Ross Senior Center at noon, where she got back into ceramics, a passion she had earlier in life, arts and crafts, and socializing with all friends, especially birthday parties and bingo. Every Thursday night, you could always find Judy at the dance, she was passionate about dancing, especially polkas. She also, loved the outdoors and spending time at Lake Whitney, where she had been going since childhood, water skiing, swimming, and especially fishing; she always caught the most fish.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her son, William Bergendahl and wife, Akemi; granddaughter, Sarah; grandson, Ian; stepdaughter, Stacy Bergendahl; brothers, Larry Hennig and wife, Kathy and Doug Hennig; nieces, Lesley and husband, Will and Hadley Woodruf; aunts, Margie Deer, Joyce Wiethorn, and Themla Trojan; uncle, Tommy Hennig; numerous cousins; Harold Hyde, a very special dancing partner (boyfriend) for 18 years where they shared lots of memories; and last but not least, her many friends: Joyce Kendrick, Jerre Gumelt, Pam Uzzle, the yaya's, and the Karan family to include Champ.
