DOROTHY FRANCES ZIK

Dorothy Frances Zik, 84, resident of Brookview Meadows in Green Bay and formerly of Two Creeks, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening, Sept. 13, 2009, at a Green Bay hospital.
The daughter of the late Henry and Barbara (Stoller) Hunsader was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Alaska, Wis., and grew up in Manitowoc. Dororthy graduated from Manitwooc County Teacher's College in 1944 and taught at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Two Rivers, until it closed. She continued as the Religious Education Coordinator at Sacred Heart. After consolidation, she helped at other parishes, teaching and coordinating religious education. On July 3, 1948, she married Florian Jerome Zik at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. The couple purchased a farm in Two Creeks in 1950 and lived there until 2008. Florian and Dorothy gathered with family and friends to celebrate 60 years of marriage in July of 2008. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2009. Dorothy had been an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Two Rivers, where she belonged to the Altar-Rosary Society. She took care of the altar linens and scheduled the altar servers at the church. She was also a member of St. Joseph Oratory-Institute of Christ the King in Green Bay. Dorothy love the Catholic faith and the Latin Mass. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, shopping (she loved a good bargain), cooking and canning, and babysitting for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy and Florian were generous in sharing with the Discalced Carmelite Community in Denmark.

She was preceded in death by an infant grandson: Justin David; and her sibblings: Mabel (Leonard) Tienor, Mark (Margaret) Hunsader, and Robert Hunsader. Friends may call at SS. Edward & Isidore Church, Flintville after 9 a.m. Thursday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David Kasperek presiding with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski is serving the Zik family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Discalced Carmelites in Denmark, Wis.
