Ada was born to Charles and Charlene Mays O'Maley, the oldest of three girls. She was raised on her father's ranch in Howe, ID, and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1945. There, she met Ray Hofer, and they married Oct. 18, 1944, in Dillon, MT. They lived first in Blackfoot, and later settled in Pocalello, where they raised eleven children, Larry, Rita, Linda, Charlene, Leslie, Denise, Hal,
Lynette, Tracy, Don, and Marc.
