R. S. Lile Dies Suddenly
R. S. Lile died of heart failure about 9:30 Monday morning while in the field with his son-in-law, Thad Sunderland, and some of his grandchildren at the Sunderland home a mile and a half south of Lone Wolf. He and the children were chopping cotton. No warning was given of his trouble and he had been talking cheerfully to Mrs. Sunderland who had brought some drinking water to the field a few minutes before he fell on his face. He breathed only three or four times after Mr. Sunderland reached him from his cultivator.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Evanson and Sibyl Mae Archer. Burial was in Lone Wolf Cemetery.
Richard Silson Lile was born March 9, 1848, in Marion Co., Missouri. He was married in 1870 to Miss Katherine Asbury, who died in 1891. Seven children survive their father. Mrs. A. F. Lucas, Mrs. Thad Sunderland, and Emmett Lile of Lone Wolf, and Joe Lile of Wellington, Kan., were present at the funeral.
Mr. Lile has lived here with his children for the past eight years.

Please note Richard was married 20 Oct 1868 Green County, Kentucky, to Lucetta Catherine "Caty" Asbury per marriage record. She supposedly died in 1891. I have an original letter from her brother, Joseph William Asbury, dated 04 Nov 1893, in McKinney, TX, to Miss Mollie Lile in Atlanta, MO, in response to having received notification of "Caty's" death, so I am not sure whether this means they finally found him & notified him 2 years late or if it means she just died in 1893. He does not reference any date or timeframe for her death.

Also, Richard S Lile may have been born in Macon County, MO, as the family relocated there from Green County, KY, sometime between 1881-1884. Possibly, it is a transcription error of handwritten info. Also, regarding his middle name Silson in the obit, he is listed as Richard Simpson Lyle on the only online birth record for more recently discovered 9th child, Lula Edith Lyle, b.28 Dec 1889 Independence, Macon, MO. She must have died by 1900 or was sent to live elsewhere as were other siblings after the mother's death around 1891. We are left to wonder what happened to Lula Edith Lile and her mother.
