PATRICK DAY OBITUARY

Patrick Lynchon Day, age 92, originally of Two Rivers, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 in McKinney, Texas, where he resided for the last three years near his son, Thomas.

Patrick was born April 10, 1919, in Camberwell, County of London, England, son of Bridget Lynchon. As an infant he was adopted by Charles and Maude Whipp Day. In 1923 the family immigrated to the United States. Pat attended Roosevelt and Koenig Elementary Schools and Washington High School. He was active in athletics, playing football, basketball and baseball. He played with and coached the Two Rivers Ramblers semi-pro football team and played with the Polar Bears baseball team. Later he was a member of the Oldtimers Baseball group. On June 7, 1941, he married Alice Puls at Grace Congregational Church and they had three children. He worked for Eastman Manufacturing Co., Manitowoc, Streu and Cape Construction Companies and operated Pat's Bar in Two Rivers. In June of 1941, he was drafted into the U. S. Army and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was active in the American Legion, VFW and La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chebaux (40/8). He served as Commander of American Legion Post # 165 for several years, served on the honorary military funeral squad and was appointed to the National Membership and Post Activities Committee of the American Legions in recognition for service to the American Legion. He also received the American Legion Go-Getter Award and the Military Funeral Honors Award.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Linda (Paul) Antonie, Dunnellon, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law: Patrick (Patricia) Day Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn. and Thomas (Brooke) Day, McKinney, Tex.; three grandchildren: Ryann Collier, Alexis Day and Siler Day, McKinney, Tex.; along with several nephews and nieces. Patrick was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years: Alice Day; sisters: Winifred Hansen and Gladys Sharpley and brother: Charles Day Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kim Henning with entombment to follow at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the service by members of American Legion Post # 164 and V.F.W. Post # 1248 of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.

Honorary pallbearers are son-in-law: Paul Antonie; grandson: Siler Day; and nephews: Ronald Hansen, Jerald Hansen, Leonard Hansen and Frederick "Buckey" Sharpley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Patrick's name may be made to the American Legion Robert Burns Post # 165 of Two Rivers, Meals-on-Wheels of Two Rivers or Grace Congregational U.C.C.
