Music Publishing Executive, Former Recording Artist. He is the brother of Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr. Recording under the stage name Bob Kayli, he had a minor hit "Everyone Was There" in 1958, the record reached number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100. He then recorded "Never More" in 1959. He later recorded two more singles under the name Bob Kayli, "Small Sad Sam" (a cover of Phil McLean's answer record to "Big Bad John", Tamla, 1961) and "Hold On Pearl" (Gordy, 1962), neither were successful and his singing career ended. He co-wrote several songs for early Motown artist, and as an actor, he played the character "Hawk" in the 1972 film Lady Sings the Blues.
