Mary Jo York (Boehnlein), age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17. Mary Jo was born in Muskegon, Michigan on August 28, 1954. She grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1972.

Mary Jo lived in several states, including Oregon where she discovered a passion for rock climbing before returning to Michigan to assist her aging parents by becoming their main caregiver.

Despite having cancer, Mary Jo encouraged others with her sweet spirit, easy smile, and acts of kindness. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Grand Rapids and found strength with her faith in God. Mary Jo helped all of us see God's hand in our lives and be thankful for what we have. She enjoyed spending time with her family, artwork, and taking in the beauty of God's creation through rock collecting, observing the night sky, and nature. For 13 years, customers at Macy's appreciated the extra service she gave them until retiring in 2020.

Mary Jo is survived by her brothers, Mike (Shelley) Boehnlein of Lansing, Tim (Valeta) Boehnlein of Sterling Hts. and Randy (Rose) Boehnlein of Belmont, many nieces and nephews, cousins, her aunts Sylvia Conroy-Pecak and Dorothy White, as well as many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Beverly Boehnlein.

Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy can donate to:

Tim Boehnlein 41715 Marold Dr. Sterling Heights MI 48314 - to help the family cover funeral expenses.

If donations exceed the funeral expenses, any remaining funds will be donated in Mary Jo's name to a local non-profit organization that she valued.
