Kay Frances Derrick, 81 of Arlington, SD went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

Kay was born on May 12, 1941, to Vernon and Doris (Steuck) Flanigan in Watertown, SD. She attended school in Wallace, SD.

On August 16, 1974, Kay married Robert (Bob) Derrick. The couple lived in Arlington, SD where they owned and operated a ceramic shop and later opened the Arlington Trading Post. She also clerked many auctions alongside her husband. She was previously a manager of the Arlington Sewing Factory.

Kay held several positions as a member of the TOPS Arlington chaper. She was also a member of Arlington Methodist Church for many years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed creating greeting cards with her friend Mary Schultz. She also spent time attending activities for her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved playing cards and various games with family and friends. Every year Kay hosted Christmas Eve for her entire extended family. She was an avid Packer fan. Kay's companion after her husband's passing was her cat, Miss Kitty (Missy).

Grateful for having shared hr life are her children: Mike (Doreen) Buchholz of Alden, MN; Rita (Ron) Henry of Lake Preston, SD; Dan (Kathy) Buchholtz, of DeSmet, SD; Bert (Lisa) Buchholz of Lake Preston, SD; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Brother, Vince (Blanch) Flanigan; Sisters, Linda (Ron) Urevig; Jo (Roger) Steuck; Doris Mae (Curt) Knutson; Jean (Dale) Knutson and Cecile Kerby; Sister-in-law, Linda (John) Bunker and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and a grandchild, Justin Buchholz.

Funeral services for Kay will be at 2:00 pm Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Arlington United Methodist Church in Arlington with burial in the Arlington City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and preceding services in the church on Friday.
