Woodland, California - David Franke was born in 1954 at Woodland Memorial Hospital. He attended Maxwell Elementary school, Freeman Elementary school, Harriet Lee Senior Elementary school and Woodland High School (class of 1972). He received a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of California at Davis in 1976.
After college he moved to Washington state where he was a registered professional engineer with the Washington State Department of Bridges and Highways. He helped engineer sound wall and bridge projects
In the mid 1980's, Dave returned to California to work for Tecon Pacific where he helped engineer new building construction.
In the late 1980's, Dave started working for the county of Sacramento. His contributions to building a bridge which preserved native bats was featured on the cover of a civil engineering magazine.
Dave retired in 2011 and enjoyed a full life with Harley Davidson motorcycles, bowling, golfing, skiing, music and lots of dear friends. He recently attended his high school class 50 year reunion.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred (Fritz) and Helen Franke of Woodland, Ca. He is survived by his brother and sister in law Carl and Ann Franke of Woodland, CA and brother Fred Franke of Plano, TX.
Burial will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Louie and Marie Muller at 36359 County Road 18A, Woodland, CA 95695 on Saturday, Oct. 29th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. John's United Church of Christ, the ASPCA, or the charity of your choice.
