DOUGHERTY -- Services for Edward Coll, 83, Sulphur, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dougherty Baptist Church with Laron Branson, Ron Johnson and the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Dougherty Cemetery.

Coll was born April 3, 1918, in Dougherty to Robert D. and Ina M. Samples Coll. He died April 23, 2001, in the Ardmore hospital.

A resident of Dougherty most of his life, he served in the Army during World War II and married Marie Ferrell on April 23, 1944, in Kentucky. He was a farmer and worked for the railroad in the track division. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Dale, and sister, Lee Baugh.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Robert, Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Betty S. Houdek, Austin, Texas; a brother, Aaron, Dougherty; a sister, Billie R. Walls, Sulphur; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be Ralph Gibson, Willard McCartney Jr., Glenn and Sonny Hale, Keith Smith, Joe Bonham and Mickey Kyler.

Cowley-Krien Funeral Home will direct services.
