Joseph William "J.W." Maupin, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2022 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 23, 1932 in Lebanon to the late Harry and Stella Maupin. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He started farming in Jessietown and later in life moved to Miller Pike to continue his passion of farming. It was on Miller Pike that he and his wife, Jean, of 68 years raised their children. His strong work ethic and love of family was passed to each of his children. JW was nominated and received the 2010 Farmer of the Year Award by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jean (Merritt); son, Steve Maupin; parents, Harry and Stella Maupin; brother, Donald Maupin; and great-grandson, Tanner Strong.

Survivors include his six children, Mike (Stacy) Maupin of Jessietown, Debbie Cox of Lebanon, Kathy Maupin of Lexington, Joey (Jackie) Maupin of Springfield, David Maupin of Bardstown, and Brian (Lynn) Maupin of Lebanon; brother, Bernard Wayne (Betty-deceased) Maupin; sisters, Anita (Jack-deceased) Davis, Bonnie (Randall) Luckett, Joan (Pat-deceased) Abell, Linda (Rodney) Hayes, and Paula (Stuart) Jay; also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
