During the civil he started using his middle name.
AFTER DISCHARGE FROM 16TH KANSAS CALVERY CO. H.,16,Dec.,1865 returned
to Missouri. He had received a gunshot wound through the left hand 28,Oct. ,1864
in action at Newtonia,Missouri. He was approximately 6 ft. tall,size 13
shoe,blue eyes, black hair(as a younger man) Mr. Reads' Aunt Goldia Bur ge said
Alex and Susan had lived at or near Trading Post,Linn Co.,Kans

Alexander Lopeman was born November 8 1840 in Clarion County
Pennsylvania .He came to Missouri at the age of fourteen and in 1863
enlisted in the Army.
Mr. Lopeman was married, December 25, 1865 to Susan McClatchy, and
to this union was born fourteen children of whom four are dead. he is
survived by the widow, Mrs Susan McClatchy Lopeman; ten children 7 of
whom were present; thirty eight grand children and twenty two great grand
children.
Mr. Lopeman was a member of the Methodist church.
His death occurred at his home in Amoret, Missouri, Wednesday
evening, Nov 26, 1924. His age was 84 Years, 18 days. Had he lived until
Christmas of this year he and Mrs. Lopeman would have been married
fifty-nine years.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church. In the absence
of the Rev. H.B. Hutchman, assisted by the Rev. J.R. Luttrel
