Nona I. Garner-Sheriff, age 73, of Newville, passed away April 8, 2021 at home. Born January 7, 1948 in Pound, VA, daughter of the late Roy J. and Nancy V. (Mullins) Powers. She was widowed by her first husband, Roger Garner and her second husband, George Sheriff.
Nona was a caregiver for In Your Home Care and loved taking care of people, even while she herself was on hospice. She also loved to garden, play cards and dice and build puzzles. Nona enjoyed going to McDonald's for breakfast, but most of all, loved spending time with her grandkids.
Nona is survived by her children, Lynn Garner, Roger Garner, Jeff Garner, John Garner and Deb Fringer; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and these brothers and sisters, Tim (Katrina) Powers, Ezra (Felicia) Powers, Bonnie Meades, Myrenda Stallard, Marty Blalock, Sandy Helman, Robert Powers, Donny (Fonda) Keller and Leroy Keller. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Keller-Lighcap and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nona was preceded in death by her brother, Dave Keller, grandson, John John and aunt, Juanita Mell.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7pm Monday April 12, 2021 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd Carlisle. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 13, 2021 at 1:30pm. Nona will be laid to rest at Cumberland Valley Memorial Park.
