Phil was the son of Philip Charles Hurkes and LaDonna Brave Bull. He lived in many places growing up, attending school in Kentucky, Arkansas, South Dakota, and North Dakota. He attended The Culinary Arts School in Scottsdale, Arizona, and shared his culinary skills at a number of locations. Phil enjoyed cooking, and was always happy to fashion feasts for family and friends. He liked watching NASCAR, playing video games, and absolutely loved his music. He loved children, and, in addition to his own sons, he had many adopted children in his life.
At the time of his journey, Phil was survived by his wife, Michelle, two sons, one stepson, his mother and step-father Miles Allard (both since passed), as well as his stepfather Terrance and brothers, sisters, niece, nephews, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and other relations.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip, brother Leonard, paternal grandparents Tom and Harriet Hurkes, and maternal grandparents Frank and Valerie Brave Bull.
