Kathleen M. Walecka, 83, of Manitowoc, formerly of Two Rivers passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Kathy was born on May 13, 1939 in Manitowoc to Cyril and Agnes (Shedivy) Wachtel. Kathy was a graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers. She then furthered her education at UW-Green Bay where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. On January 20, 1962 she married John E. Walecka. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2007. Kathy was an X-Ray Technician and later a Bone Density Technician for Two Rivers Community Hospital then Manitowoc Memorial Hospital and later Holy Family Memorial Hospital for over 44 years. Kathy also served as Manitowoc Co. Deputy Coroner, was a volunteer for the Manitowoc Co. Sheriff's Department, and coordinated the volunteers for the Manitowoc Christmas parade for several years. Kathy was a member of the former Holy Redeemer Church in Two Rivers. She was a member of the Lakeshore Curling Club in Two Rivers and Masquers in Manitowoc. Kathy enjoyed gardening, photography and had a love for dogs. Later in life, she enjoyed reading and watching various police procedural / true crime shows. Kathy is survived by her children: Jill (Brian) Koski of Gwinn, MI, Wendy Walecka of Appleton, and Mark (Georgeann) Walecka of Sheboygan; grandchildren: Nicholas Walecka, Claire Walecka, and Kyle Walecka; two granddogs: Myfi, and Jordy; and two sisters: Elizabeth (Wayne) Simono, and Mary (William) Peterson, both of LaValle, WI. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents: Cyril and Agnes Wachtel; her husband: John Walecka; parents-in-law: Julia and Emil Walecka; and brother-in-law: Norman (Alice) Walecka. A memorial service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 4:30 pm at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street, with Rev. Subi Thomas officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, November 7, 2022 at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:30 pm.
