Actor. He was a television, theater, and British cinema actor from 1966 until 2020. He may be best known to the British fans for playing Tom Simmonite in the world's longest-running sitcom "Last of the Summer Wine" (1973-2010). He began his training in 1966 at Leatherhead Theatre, as an assistant stage manager. In his 56 year career he performed in "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" (theater), "London Assurance" (on Broadway), "Krapp's Last Tape" (theater), "Freewheelers" (TV debut 1968), "Tottering " (TV), "Towers" (TV) and "Wreckers at Deadeye" (TV), "The Bromley Boys" (cinema) and "Guernsey" (cinema). His father actor Bill Owens played his father, William "Compo" Simmonite in "Last of the Summer Wine"
