On Friday morning at his home at Hammers' store, Highland township, James B Myers died of dropsy, aged 57 years, 3 months and 16 days. on the 10th of September 1869, Mr. Myers married Jennie Sheets, who died April 28, 1876. Mr. Myers died and was buried on the same day of the week as his first wife. One child blessed this union, Minerva E., intermarried to Frank Pittinger, of Charmian. On December 25, 1870, Mr. Myers married Mary s Hammers, who, with the following children survive him; Harvey C., May E., John M., and Beulah Myers.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Deardorff, assisted by Revs. B.F. Lightner and E.K. Leatherman, and was one of the largest that has taken place at Marsh Creek for years, nearly 200 vehicles being on the ground.
Mr. Myers was a staunch Democrat and fro the time he was 21 years of age he has held continuously some public office, being supervisor at the time of his death. He held the office of County Auditor and Director of the Poor. The pallbearers were Rev. E.K. Letherman, V.K. McIllhenny, Leander Warren and Cornelius Weaver.
