Mary L. Zacherl Bohlman, 98, a resident of St. Francis Terrace passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

She was born January 5, 1924 in Fond du Lac, a daughter of the late Charles and Lena Feller Streit Indermuehle.

On August 12, 1944, she married Louis G. Zacherl at St. Mary's Church, Fond du Lac, WI. Louis preceded her in death in 2000.

Mary was the strong and gentle matriarch of the Zacherl family. She raised seven children with Louis, including a move across the country to Fond du Lac with six young children to support the family business, Zacherl Funeral Home. Mary was a steady support to her husband, Louis, as a homemaker and a funeral home attendant, when he took over the family business.

Mary experienced incredible tragedy in her life, losing three children and two grandchildren. Her faith in God always held strong. Mary was an example of grace, dignity and fierce love for her family and her God. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and was often at St. Mary's Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Holy Family Catholic Women. She was past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella, member of the St. Francis Auxiliary, volunteering at Agnesian Health Care Volunteer and the Hospice Home of Hope. She was past President of the Service League of FDL.

Mary was also a charter member of Pineaire Homeowners Association of Sun City, AZ, a volunteer at Sun Health Hospice, Hospice of Arizona, and Hospice of the Valley Phoenix. She was a member of the Lake View Craft Club and often traveled with many Elder Hostels to foreign countries.

On December 18, 2004, Mary married Robert "Hack" R. Bohlman at St. Mary's Church, Fond du Lac, WI. Hack passed away on November 29, 2016.

Survivors include her four sons, Louis G. Zacherl of Broomfield, CO, John C. (Susan) Zacherl of Fond du Lac, Michael J. (Julie) Zacherl of Hancock and Matthew M. (Melanie) Zacherl of Fond du Lac;

14 grandchildren, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Brian (Ann) Zacherl, Col. (Ret.) Andrew (Marcy) Zacherl, Courtney (David) Martinez, Frederick (Elizabeth) Zacherl, John B. (Jane) Zacherl, Paul B. (Lisa) Zacherl, Patrick L. Zacherl, Benjamin Zacherl, Nicholas Zacherl, Katherine Zacherl, Matthew Zacherl, Daniel P. Zacherl, Claire J. Zacherl, and Olivia J. Zacherl;

20 great grandchildren, Brian (Kim), Maria Elise, Jacob, Ben, Hali, Yancy, Ethan, Alia, Alek, Amalie, Aven, Audie, Fern, Sam, Levi, Violetta, Kiara, Nikoelette, Aaron and Aspenn.

She is further survived by two daughters-in law, Linda Zacherl of Appleton and Jennifer Zacherl of Fond du Lac, as well as Hack's children, Stephen (Joan) Bohlman of Middleton, Laurie Bohlman of California, Adrienne (Tom) Walcyn of Minnesota and Luanne (Jerry) O'Connor of Fond du Lac.

In addition to her late husbands, Mary was preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth "Liza" Servelle, sons Joseph Zacherl and Peter Zacherl, two granddaughters, Nicole and Sarah Servelle and daughter-in-law, Kathlyn Zacherl.

The Zacherl family invites relatives and friends to a time of visitation at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 14, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 59 E. Merrill Avenue, Fond du Lac at 10:00 a.m. Mary will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in the Zacherl family plot next to her husband, Louis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Mary's name to the Fond du Lac Area Foundation - Peter A. Zacherl Family Fund.

The family is grateful to the staff and volunteers at St. Francis Terrace and Home for the many years of kind and patient care for, as well as friendships with, Mary. It is appreciated beyond what words can express.
