He was a well known Unity farmer, stone and brick mason and sawmill operator. He was also an avid gardener.
He was a charter member of the South Unity Community Church which later became the Quaker Hill Christian Church where he served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and lay leader.
He was a former member and Past Master of the Harvest Moon Grange in Thorndike, a Past Master of the Pomona Grange and a former member of the State and National Grange.
He was a Past Noble Grand of the Invictus Lodge of Odd Fellows in Unity and was a past District Deputy of that order. He was also a member of the Waldo County Soil Conservation Committee and a former member of the Unity School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Edith (White) Reynolds of Unity whom he married September 20, 1930; two sons, Rev. Richard A. Reynolds of Littleton and Silas D. Reynolds of Freedom; three daughters, Mary E. Rich of Rockland, Elsie Ladd of Freedom and Eva C. Ames of Unity; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Monday at the Quaker Hill Christian Church with the Rev. Donald Cronkite officiating. Burial will be in the Quaker Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Unity Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
