Ashe, relict of the late Dr. Richard H.[sic - D.] Ashe, a former practitioner of this place, but who removed to Sheffield, Ala., some ten or twelve years ago, were brought here for internment on the noon train yesterday. [Note: Dr. Ashe died in 1877 and did not remove to Sheffield, AL, only his widow did.] Mrs. Ashe was stricken with paralysis about two years ago from which she never fully recovered and from the effects of which she died Monday night at her home in Sheffield, Ala. The remains were accompanied to Uniontown by Mr. C. B. Ashe of Sheffield, and Mrs. James Parker of Livingston, son and daughter of the deceased. They are, also, the surviving members of the immediate family. The funeral services were held in the Episcopal church at 1 p.m. and interment was made in the
cemetery of that church immediately after. The Herald joins the many old-time friends of the surviving members of the family in extending our deepest sympathy." (The Canebrake Herald, Uniontown, AL, Jan. 5, 1905, p. 1, c. 5.)
