Julie E. Major, 88, of Monessen, died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Carroll Township. Born on Jan. 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Julia Boldyzar Sabol. She was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, and a former member of the CD of A Court 776 and the Valley Art Club, where she won numerous awards over the years for her beautiful artwork. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Ramsey, who was killed in action in the battle of Iwo Jima island, and George "Dutch" Major; two brothers, John and Matthew Sabol; and two sisters, Ann Bantz and Irene Shimo. She is survived by three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Midge Tunney, of Monessen, Mary and Phillip Rutan, of San Diego, Calif., Dorothy and John Novakovich, of Monessen, and Steve Major, of Monessen; one brother, Emil Sabol, of Wauwatosa, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
