Bette J. McBride died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry, Illinois.

She was born August 10, 1923 in Canton, Illinois to Clifford and Bessie (Melgreen) Salisbury. She married Robert J. McBride in Beardstown, Illinois on June 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1989.

Bette is survived by a son, Robert (and Terry) McBride of Sparland, Illinois, a daughter, Deborah L. McBride of Chicago as well as a grandson Robert M McBride of Sparland, Illinois.

Bette received her B.A. from Illinois State University in Normal in 1944. She received her Master's Degree from Bradley University. Bette was a Latin and history teacher in the Putnam and Henry school systems. She retired from Henry-Senachwine Grade School.

She was a member and past matron of the Henry Chapter of the Order of the Eastern of the Star, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and a former board member of the Henry Public Library and had been a vocalist at area churches and social functions.
